Governing Documents Committee

The Election Committee typically meets later in the year around May to begin preparations for the upcoming election cycle.

The Governing Documents Committee has undergone a thorough review of our current 2025 Restated Bylaws. The Committee is bringing forth multiple revisions for 30-day landowner review and comment: July 1st – July 31st. After the completion of the 30-day landowner review period, the Committee will consider landowner comment, make any further revisions to incorporate landowner comment, and then go back to the GLA Board for a final and review approval to be included in the 2026 Election Ballot.

Upon Board approval of some or all of the 2026 Proposed Bylaw Revisions, the revisions will be included with the 2026 Election Ballot, slated to be sent out on September 15, 2026, for landowner vote along with the 2026 GLA Board of Directors and Ombudsman Election.

The Governing Documents Committee and the GLA Board is seeking comment and feedback on all of the 2026 Proposed Bylaw Revisions outlined in the document linked below. Please send your comments to info@montanagla.org by July 31, 2026 to be considered in the Bylaw revision process.

In addition, the Road Committee is asking for comment and feedback on the Proposed 2026 Road Policy. Visit the Road Committee page and scroll to the bottom to see three policies up for 30-day landowner comment, which began June 17th and ends July 17th.

We appreciate your participation and feedback in this very important revision process.

Governing Documents Committee

The Governing Documents Committee is tasked with reviewing all of the GLA governing documents for inaccuracies, redundancies, necessary updates, contradictions, and aspects that may need to be updated due to Montana State Law updates and changes over the years. The committee meets to discuss these revisions, propose new language, and a plan for implementing these changes, per the Bylaws. They then bring these suggestions to the Board for review and approval. The committee often meets once per month or on a per-needed basis depending on the year.
