Board of Directors & Committees
The GLA Board of Directors is typically comprised of twelve Directors. Six Directors in North Glastonbury and six Directors in South Glastonbury. Due to resignations, election results, or removal the Board can be as small as four Directors, per the Bylaws. Due to a resignation of a North Director, we currently have five Directors in North and six Directors in South. Notice will be sent shortly calling for appointments in North to fill the vacancy. Notice is required to be sent within 30-days of a vacancy to landowners to fill the seat. If you are interested in joining the Board of Directors and a North Glastonbury landowner, keep an eye out for this call for appointments!

Committees
Committees are one of the best ways for landowners to engage with Board activities and functions and get involved in the community. They are pivotal for the Board to carry out their duties, per the Bylaws, and typically meet monthly or on a per-needed basis. Each committee has a chairperson who calls the meetings, sets the agenda, and communicates committee minutes to the Board of Directors. The chairperson can be a landowner or a Director.
We encourage landowners to join committees to stay active in our community! All landowners are encouraged to join committee meetings and consider joining a committee. Committee members must be voted on and approved by the Board.
The Roads Committee is one of the most important committees for the community. The Road Committee meets to discuss road maintenance, snow plowing and dispatching, snow fencing, road improvements, long-term planning, safety, and more.

The Project Review Committee is responsible for processing project applications, making recommendations, and managing the approval process for any building projects or subdivision activities in the community. However, the GLA Board is responsible for all project approvals.

The Governing Documents Committee is tasked with reviewing all of the GLA governing documents for inaccuracies, redundancies, necessary updates, contradictions, and aspects that may need to be updated due to Montana State Law updates and changes over the years. The committee meets to discuss these revisions, propose new language, and a plan for implementing these changes, per the Bylaws. They then bring these suggestions to the Board for review and approval. The committee often meets once per month or on a per-needed basis depending on the year.

The Election Committee is tasked with planning and executing GLA Director Elections, per the Bylaws. The committee meets to come up with a plan for the upcoming election cycle, communicates these dates to landowners, creates nomination packet and election packet, sending these materials to landowners, and communicating with the 3rd party ballot processing, typically ATS. All of the election committees plans and actions must be voted on and approved by the Board before proceeding. On occasion, the Election Committee can meet to investigate the previous election cycle and report back to the Board with its findings.

The Finance Committee is chaired by the Treasurer, per the Bylaws. The committee meets to review financial statements, draft budgets, address past-due assessments, pursue liens due to past-due assessment, devise financial strategies for future income, develop long-term plans and support the Treasurer.

The Community Property Committee plans and executes maintenance, improvements and infrastructure on shared land owned by the GLA and the community. Community property is comprised of 2 sections of undeveloped land in South Glastonbury and, the soccer fields in North Glastonbury, and the Quonset Hut property. The Community Property Committee also plans and executes, along with volunteers, community gatherings and picnics.

The Compliance Committee addresses issues that arise as a result of landowner violations of the Governing Documents. These issues are typically brought to the Board’s attention due to a landowner complaint. The Compliance Committee reviews submitted complaints, reaches out to landowners reportedly in non-compliance, identifies the issue, devises plans with landowners for remedying violations, and communicates to the Board the proposed action plan. The Board must vote to approve a Compliance Committee recommended action plan, and then must also vote to determine when due process afforded landowners who are in violation of the governing documents is complete.
